nothing but good stuff. really.
The plan’s three phases focus on different goals, each building on the previous. All serve to help us shed the pounds and get healthier.
- Shake It Up lasts three days and is a detox phase: shakes and soups, anti-inflammatory and alkaline foods. Think pineapple, ginger, lemon, coconut oil, cinnamon, and cayenne, foods that are rich with enzymes, nutrients, and phytochemicals
- Melt Down centers on adding probiotics, prebiotics, and MCFAs, and we progress to enjoying liquids and salads.
- Blast Off covers days eight through the end, emphasizes thermogenic ingredients in every meal. We’ll keep adding on to the foods of the previous two phases with solid foods for dinner, and a shake or smoothie during the day. Ani includes recipes for wraps, soups, meals, desserts and sweet treats (!)
Remember that we all have our own speed of weight loss, and maybe you don’t love all the foods on the plan. While Ani says that the plan works best when used as written it, she encourages us to mix and match phases and meals if necessary. She just asks that we try it her way, first.
Ani recommends that if you have more than 10 to 15 pounds to lose, then you might choose to repeat Phases 1 and 2 in sequence a couple of times before moving on to Phase 3, or repeat Phases 2 and 3 in sequence for as long as you need to get to your goal weight. Just don’t keep repeating Phase 1 on its own; “it’s too hard on the body long-term,” she writes.
Like Ani, we drink 3 to 4 liters a day. Ani recommends squeezing some lime or lemon into your water; we like plain warm water in the morning, and room temperature throughout the day. It is crucial that you water is the cleanest water you can procure.
Next up: setting up our kitchens and going shopping for the foods we’ll need for the 15 days! It doesn’t get any better than that. We are eager to get started and see what results we’ll get, but we will thoroughly enjoy getting ready. In fact, we’re taking Friday off to do just that.
Bye for now!
